About the Role
We're seeking a compassionate and resilient Support Worker to assist a man in his late 30s with complex needs following a road traffic accident.. He is a wheelchair user with a hypoxic brain injury, is non-verbal, and communicates using a board. He requires support with transfers and elements of mental health care, particularly around bedtime. Staff should be comfortable working in an environment where smoking takes place. The role also involves managing occasional challenging behaviours, including risk of self-harm, so experience in similar settings is beneficial. A person-centred, calm, and proactive approach is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting with daily routines, promoting independence, managing behaviours positively, and ensuring a safe and engaging environment. As a Senior Support Worker, you'll also be responsible for leading and supporting a small team, ensuring high standards of care are consistently met. This includes overseeing daily handovers, mentoring staff, completing regular audits, contributing to care planning and risk assessments, liaising with external professionals, and supporting the Service Manager with rota planning, training, and team development.
