This post will be based in Bradford’s Deaf & MSI Children and Young People Service, initially in the peripatetic Support Team for Deaf Children.
We are seeking to recruit a creative, innovative, and experienced Qualified Teacher with current experience of working with children who have severe and profound additional and complex needs to support deaf children and their families during their early years and in special schools.
As a Teacher of the Deaf, you will be responsible for:
1. Supporting special school teachers, early years settings, and parents/carers in developing and managing approaches and provision for deaf children with additional needs.
2. Optimising outcomes for deaf children with complex needs through a thorough understanding of the special school curriculum, including planning, assessment, teaching, training, and staff support.
3. Providing families with balanced, unbiased support and advice to enable informed decisions for their deaf children.
4. Working in partnership with other agencies involved in services for deaf children.
Applications are welcome from experienced and qualified Teachers of the Deaf. We are also open to considering outstanding qualified teachers with substantial experience teaching children with severe and profound additional complex needs who are looking to develop their careers in working with deaf children.
The service is willing to support the successful candidate in undertaking training to achieve the mandatory qualification.
