General Manager – Medical Division
Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic General Manager to join the busy, fast‑paced Medical division.
Responsibilities
* Provide timely, efficient and effective Directorate management support, ensuring a responsive, innovative, and safe service at the highest standards in line with Trust and Divisional Strategy.
* Operate with a high degree of autonomy and significant front‑line presence, deputising for the Director of Operations – Medicine.
* Collaborate with clinical teams to maintain clinical safety and quality alongside the business integrity of the Directorate.
* Ensure all performance targets are met, problem‑solve appropriately, and develop sustainable solutions in partnership with clinical and managerial colleagues across the hospital.
* Act as a key member of the Divisional Management Team, taking full responsibility for actions and keeping other team members fully informed.
* Partner with colleagues to drive aligned developments and shared best practice across the Trust.
* Work with minimum supervision, coordinating activities to ensure an efficient service.
* Provide professional general management support to the Directorate in partnership with the triumvirate team and deliver a high‑quality, responsive service.
* Ensure effective communication channels exist and are maintained within and across Directorates, fostering strong relationships with relevant colleagues in other organisations.
* Act as the key link between clinical teams and all Divisional and departmental management teams.
* Develop and implement effective practice in line with Departmental and Directorate priorities.
* Establish excellent relationships, strong interface pathways, and clear mechanisms for escalation of problems and performance tracking with other specialities and departments across the Trust.
* Work with the Clinical Director and Matrons to ensure implementation of Trust policies across the Directorates, ensuring staff are aware of responsibilities and receive appropriate training, including health and safety, risk management, and assurance framework compliance.
