The Senior Lecturer supports the Curriculum Manager by providing leadership in teaching, learning, assessment, and course development within a subject area. The role involves coordinating a team of subject specialists.
Responsibilities include:
1. Planning, delivering, and developing high-quality learning opportunities aligned with the College’s mission and values.
2. Providing professional support in curriculum development, student support, placements, and assessment, along with organizational and administrative duties.
3. Accountabilities:
4. Contributing to the development of the subject area and driving growth and achievement outcomes.
5. Overseeing course planning for own and other lecturers’ courses to ensure effectiveness.
6. Advising the Curriculum Manager on staffing, timetabling, and resource needs.
7. Guiding and supporting lecturers and instructors on teaching, learning, and assessment best practices.
8. Promoting professional development within the subject area.
9. Managing aspects of course management, including quality indicators, course improvements, and recruitment targets.
10. Delivering high-quality teaching, assessment, and moderation for a range of courses up to Higher Education level.
11. Developing curricula, course plans, and learning materials.
12. Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate records.
13. Providing student tutorship and support, including communication with stakeholders.
14. Leading courses to ensure high retention and achievement, including planning and liaising with college services.
15. Guiding potential students and assisting with applications and enrolment processes.
16. Monitoring attendance and maintaining accurate records within the MIS.
17. Organizing student placements and communicating with workplace supervisors.
18. Reviewing course performance and planning improvements based on stakeholder feedback.
19. Engaging in marketing, liaising with schools, employers, and sector representatives to develop programs and recruitment.
20. Participating in college events and professional development activities.
21. Supporting policies and quality assurance, and adhering to health and safety, safeguarding, and equality policies.
22. Demonstrating flexibility and performing other duties as required.
Generic duties include:
1. Completing administrative tasks, preparation, and marking promptly.
2. Covering for absent colleagues and responding to data requests.
3. Supervising students on and off-campus during college activities.
4. Supporting additional student needs with the Additional Support Team.
5. Participating in team or committee meetings, maintaining records.
6. Coordinating student awards and responding to course-related inquiries.
7. Training will be provided as needed, in consultation with the Curriculum Manager.
