Job Title: Machine Minder / Operator / Feeder Location: Aldridge Walsall Full-time, 4 on 4 off 12 hour shifts 6am-6pm Pay: £13.50ph We're recruiting reliable, hands-on Machine Minders to operate and feed production equipment in a building products manufacturing environment. This is a practical role focused on safe, consistent machine operation, quality output and supporting continuous production. Key responsibilities (day-to-day operational steps) · Pre-shift: carry out and record machine start-up and safety checks (visual inspection, guarding, lubrication points, control panel checks). · Set-up & start: prepare machines for the run (fitting basic tooling/guides, loading settings/SOPs), confirm correct materials and parameters. · Feeding & operation: continuously feed raw materials/products to maintain steady flow, monitor machine performance and output rates, make minor adjustments within SOP limits to maintain quality. · Quality checks: take samples at defined intervals, perform basic measurements/visual inspections, label/reject non-conforming product and record results. · Fault response: identify and isolate common issues, perform basic troubleshooting and minor adjustments; log faults and escalate complex or safety-related issues to engineering/maintenance immediately. · Changeovers & cleaning: assist with safe changeovers and end-of-shift cleaning; follow 5S and housekeeping standards to maintain a safe, efficient workspace. · Health & Safety & compliance: follow all company safety, environmental and quality procedures (PPE, lockout/tagout, COSHH where applicable). · Records & communication: complete production logs, shift handovers and material consumption records; highlight production or quality trends to supervisors. · Support continuous improvement: suggest practical improvements to reduce waste, improve uptime and increase efficiency. Essential skills & experience · Previous experience operating industrial machinery in a continuous manufacturing environment preferred. · Comfortable with physically demanding work (manual handling, standing for long periods). · Ability to follow written procedures and SOPs accurately. · Basic numeracy and the ability to take and record simple measurements. · Good observational skills, problem awareness and the ability to escalate appropriately. · Reliable, punctual and a team player with good communication skills.
