This position is responsible for leading the Corporate Estate Management Team within the wider estate team. You will report to the Head of Estates and manage a team of property surveyors and support staff. We seek an experienced professional to lead the strategic asset management programme for the portfolio, ensuring estate compliance with property legislation and statutes, and managing it effectively to maximise occupation, best practices, value for money, and financial efficiency.
The role offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work on varied property types across Great Britain. You will support the team in all property-related matters, including disposals, acquisitions, landlord-tenant issues, and contract management of agents acting on DVSA’s behalf.
The successful candidate will need to travel to estate locations as required.

The Head of Corporate Estate Management leads the delivery of DVSA’s strategic asset management, ensuring the estate meets property legislation and statutes, and is managed effectively to maximise occupation, value, and financial efficiency. The post holder provides professional leadership, support, advice, and guidance, supporting the delivery of DVSA’s Estates Strategy and government initiatives.
This role manages accommodation across approximately 400 properties throughout England, Scotland, and Wales to meet the agency’s needs. The post holder will provide expert property advice, lead property-related projects, and collaborate closely with wider estate teams.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Providing expert advice and support on commercial surveying matters to DVSA Directors, managers, and budget holders.
2. Leading the preparation and writing of Business Cases.
3. Presenting to the Estates Delivery Board and Investment Committee.
4. Maintaining excellent stakeholder relationships regarding estate issues, including liaising with Cabinet Office, the Department for Transport, and other agencies.
5. Ensuring effective communication with relevant stakeholders, including frontline services and other estate teams.
6. Managing budgets for rents, service charges, business rates, consultancy, and lease costs.
7. Advising on valuation reports, acquisition proposals, dilapidations, and disposal reports, and determining strategies accordingly.
8. Contributing to DVSA’s key targets and business goals through estate management.
