About the Role We’re seeking an experienced Section Engineer (Earthworks & Drainage) to join our delivery team on the HS2 project in Buckinghamshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure programmes, supporting the successful delivery of major earthworks and drainage packages within a high-performing engineering team. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the engineering aspects of earthworks and drainage works, including bulk earthworks, cut & fill, and formation Oversee drainage works, including deep drainage, culverts, and attenuation systems Supervise Site Engineers and subcontractors to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient delivery Ensure all works comply with design specifications, method statements, and ITPs Oversee setting out activities, QA documentation, and technical queries Coordinate with design, planning, and commercial teams to ensure programme alignment Support construction management with progress reporting, risk management, and problem-solving Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental compliance About You Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering Proven experience as a Section Engineer on major civil or infrastructure projects Strong background in earthworks and drainage – essential Excellent understanding of engineering standards, quality assurance, and health & safety Confident communicator with strong leadership and coordination skills Valid CSCS card and relevant safety certifications
