Role Overview
We are recruiting an Environmental Protection Team Leader for an initial 3-month contract, starting ASAP. The role involves leading and managing a team delivering statutory environmental protection services, ensuring compliance with legislation and maintaining high standards of service delivery. This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, manage, and support a team of Environmental Protection Officers
*
Oversee the delivery of environmental protection services, including statutory nuisance, pollution control, and related enforcement work
*
Ensure compliance with relevant environmental health legislation, policies, and procedures
*
Manage workloads, performance, and professional development of team members
*
Provide expert technical advice on complex environmental protection cases
*
Prepare reports and contribute to policy development and service improvement
*
Liaise with internal departments, external agencies, and stakeholders as required
Requirements (Qualifications / Skills & Experience)
Essential
*
Significant experience working within environmental protection or environmental health in a local authority setting
*
Proven experience of managing or supervising staff
*
Strong knowledge of environmental protection legislation and enforcement processes
*
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet statutory deadlines
*
Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
Desirable
*
Degree or professional qualification in Environmental Health or a related discipline
*
Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIEH)
*
Experience dealing with complex or high-profile environmental protection cases
