Birkett House School is a specialist school dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of children and young people aged 4–19 with a range of complex learning difficulties, autism spectrum conditions, and additional needs. The Role
As Headteacher, you will provide strategic leadership and vision, ensuring that every learner achieves their fullest potential. You will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of teaching, learning, safeguarding, and wellbeing while fostering a culture of inclusivity, care, and ambition.
You will work collaboratively with staff, families, governors, and external partners to further develop the school’s outstanding provision and ensure that it continues to meet the evolving needs of its pupils.
Key Responsibilities
•Provide strong, inspirational leadership across the school community.
•Develop and implement a clear strategic vision aligned with the school’s ethos and values.
•Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and assessment across all key stages.
•Lead on curriculum innovation tailored to the diverse needs of SEND learners.
•Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for pupils and staff.
•Manage resources effectively to secure long-term sustainability and impact.
•Build positive relationships with parents, carers, governors, and local partners.
About You
We are looking for a leader who:
•Has proven senior leadership experience within a SEND or inclusive school setting.
•Demonstrates a deep understanding of SEND education, legislation, and best practice.
•Is an outstanding communicator and team builder, able to inspire confidence and trust.
•Has a relentless focus on improving outcomes and life chances for all pupils.
•Is resilient, compassionate, and committed to continuous professional development.
