Required Qualifications & Skills:
The following qualifications are essential to becoming a Cover Supervisor:
10. An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to get a new one)
11. Relevant experience with children in the UK with 2 professional references
12. Eligibility to work in the UK (this is Essential)
13. Proof of Address (3 months recent)
14. Strong work ethic and positive attitude
15. Overseas Police Check will be required if you have been outside of the UK for a period longer than 6 months in the past 5 years
Day-to-day duties for a Cover Supervisor include:
Supervising pupils, ensuring they are engaged in the classwork.
16. Encouraging pupils to interact.
17. Helping pupils to become more independent in their learning.
18. Establishing trust with pupils, interacting with them according to individual needs.
19. Assisting pupils with tasks as needed.
20. Creating a safe, positive, supportive classroom environment.
21. Promoting good behavior, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policies, and encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their behavior.
22. Collecting completed work and returning it to the teacher.
23. Assisting with the supervision of pupils before and after school and at break times.
24. Providing feedback to teachers on pupil's achievement, progress, and any problems.
Ideally, you will have:
25. Basic understanding of the national Key Stage Curriculum.
26. Knowledge of child development and learning.
27. Skills to self-evaluate your own learning needs.
28. Strong communication skills.
29. Ability to cover a wide range of lessons.
30. Confidence to manage a class of mixed-ability pupils.
31. Ability to keep students focused and on task.
32. Ability to provide constructive feedback that encourages pupil's positive self-esteem.
33. Dedication to establishing positive relationships with pupils.
34. The Ability to handle complex and sensitive issues with empathy and understanding.
