Overview
We are looking for an IT Technical Lead who plays a central role in driving the design, consistency, and delivery of technical solutions across the IT function. Acting as a senior technical authority, this role works closely with teams across applications, service delivery, infrastructure, and development to ensure technology decisions are aligned, scalable, and secure. This position combines deep technical expertise with a collaborative, delivery focused mindset guiding teams in best practice, reviewing and shaping solutions, and promoting reusability and integration across the technology estate. The Technical Lead also acts as a key escalation point for complex issues, working hands-on when required.
Key Responsibilities
* Cross-Team Technical Leadership: Work across IT functions to guide the design and implementation of robust, maintainable, and secure technical solutions. Act as a trusted technical advisor to team leads, project managers, and business stakeholders. Review and validate solution approaches for consistency, scalability, and alignment with enterprise standards. Promote collaboration and shared understanding between infrastructure, development, service delivery, and support teams.
* Solution Quality and Standards: Champion high quality design and delivery through technical reviews, peer support, and documentation standards. Support the adoption of common patterns, toolsets, and frameworks to streamline IT operations.
* Technical Escalation and Hands On Support: Serve as the senior technical escalation point for critical incidents or complex troubleshooting across systems and services. Engage directly with delivery teams to unblock issues, provide technical insight, or lead resolution where needed. Support integration challenges and legacy to modernisation transitions.
* Project and Change Enablement: Contribute to project planning and feasibility assessments by advising on technical constraints, risks, and options. Translate business and functional requirements into feasible technical approaches that align with overall IT direction. Support change implementation through technical assurance and collaboration.
* Cybersecurity and Compliance: Lead the development and implementation of a robust cybersecurity strategy to safeguard the company’s data, assets, and systems. Ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements such as GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, or other industry-specific standards. Implement and monitor information security policies and practices to protect against cyber threats and data breaches.
* Continuous Improvement and Knowledge Sharing: Drive continuous improvement in system design, delivery practices, and technical processes. Identify opportunities for automation, simplification, and better reuse of existing platforms. Mentor colleagues across the IT team to uplift technical capability and encourage shared learning.
Core Skills and Competencies
* Strong understanding of systems architecture, including applications, APIs, databases, and cloud environments.
* Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, AD, and modern workplace technologies.
* Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. SAP) and integrations across line of business systems.
* Scripting or automation (PowerShell, Python, etc.) and experience in source control tools (e.g. Git) is advantageous.
* Strong awareness of cybersecurity and data protection principles (e.g. GDPR, ISO 27001).
* Interpersonal Skills: Ability to influence without authority and foster collaboration across disciplines. Clear communicator with the ability to engage both technical and nontechnical stakeholders. Strong problem-solving mindset, with a focus on practical outcomes. Comfortable balancing strategic thinking with day-to-day delivery.

* Hours of work: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week
