Duties
* Safely operate company vehicles, including lorries and vans, to deliver goods to specified destinations.
* Plan delivery routes effectively to optimise efficiency and punctuality.
* Load and unload items, often requiring heavy lifting, ensuring items are secured properly during transit.
* Verify delivery details and obtain necessary signatures or documentation upon receipt.
* Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and fuel consumption.
* Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly.
* Communicate professionally with clients regarding delivery times or any unforeseen delays.
* Adhere strictly to road safety regulations and company policies at all times.
Skills
* Proven experience as a delivery driver or in commercial driving roles.
* Valid driver's licence appropriate for the vehicle operated, such as a driver licence or equivalent.
* Experience in warehouse operations or logistics is advantageous.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling goods.
* Excellent communication skills to interact courteously with clients and team members.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan routes efficiently.
* Good knowledge of local roads and traffic regulations.
* Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently under minimal supervision.
