Job Summary

The First Response Service is offering a 12‑month secondment for a Clinical Lead covering maternity in the North team based at Clock View Hospital.

The First Response Service operates 24/7 across Liverpool, Sefton, Warrington, St Helen's, Halton & Knowsley, providing urgent triage and assessments for those in mental health crisis.

The role requires flexible working across weekdays, weekends and nights in accordance with service need.


Responsibilities

* Coordinate the care of service users, carrying out assessments, evaluation and safety planning for own clients and engaging in safety huddles with the wider team.
* Ensure care plans meet the assessed need of the individual and that unqualified staff deliver the care as identified in the plan.
* Liaise with family members, carers and significant others during assessment and care planning.
* Undertake and supervise risk assessments and formulate risk management plans for service users.
* Ensure safeguarding of children and adults, and participate in meetings as appropriate.
* Supervise unqualified staff to provide high‑standard care.
* Set standards for care based on evidence‑based research findings.
* Communicate sensitive information to multidisciplinary team members.
* Confirm understanding where communication barriers exist.
* Record accurate, up‑to‑date information in the health record and supervise entry of unqualified staff.
* Document incidents or near misses per trust policy and enforce follow‑up action.
* React pro‑actively in crisis cases, developing immediate, supervised plans.
* Participate in team meetings, development and reflective practice.


Professional Duties and Responsibilities

* Maintain relevant professional registration and PREP requirements.
* Engage in ongoing learning (CPD, self‑directed learning, reflective practice, coaching, mentorship, clinical supervision, performance management).
* Provide an effective link between mental health services and primary care, acting in an advisory capacity to external professionals.
* Develop effective working relationships with professionals outside the Trust to enhance care delivery.
* Participate as a supervisor and supervisee in the Divisional performance management/supervision framework.
* Take responsibility for maintaining and developing knowledge within own area of work.
* Attend courses and conferences and share gained knowledge.
* Act in accordance with trust policies, ensuring unqualified staff adhere to policy and procedure.
* Complete mandatory training identified by the Trust and Division.
* Keep up to date with developments in professional practice and recommend changes to senior staff.
