Role Description
We are seeking an ambitious and experienced Operational Leader in adult residential and supported living services, for people with specialist complex needs. This role is a brand-new role to the organisation that requires a leader with the vision, drive and commitment to ensure people receive the highest quality of support, safety and achieving amazing outcomes. The role, most of all, requires a leader who is Resilient, Innovative, and Inclusive.
The Operational Lead will oversee and take lead on the growth of residential and supported living services for individuals with high acuity complex needs and risk in relation to behaviours that challenge. Delivering and sustaining specific services for adults with specialist complex needs, including learning disabilities, mental health issues, forensic histories, self-harm, suicidal ideation, transitions of children to adults ages 16 and above, and hospital discharge.
The Operations Lead will be a member of the organisation’s Senior Leadership Team and will be responsible to the Operations Director. The Operations Lead will directly line manage the Regional Leadership Team, to ensure they are developing, delivering and sustaining the full portfolio of residential and supported living services within the group. In addition, they will assist in mapping the long-term development strategy of the organisation and supporting the Executive Leadership Team in delivering the corporate strategic goals.
The Operations Lead will work with the Regional Leadership Team and their local teams to ensure their portfolio of services is compliant with the Health and Social Care Act, CQCs Fundamental Standards and local contract monitoring team expectations; and will ensure that Service Managers successfully manage their homes to meet their financial objectives by maximising service efficiency and profitability; they and will be required to respond in a robust and timely manner when this is found not to be the case.
The Operations Lead will work closely with the Operations Director to support relationship management with relevant stakeholders, commissioners and partners and will represent the organisation at a strategic level as and when appropriate. The Operations Lead will assist in the production of robust performance measurement systems and incorporate a clear communications strategy to engage all colleagues in the organisation’s ongoing development.
From time to time, the Operations Lead will deputise for the Operations Director.
Responsibilities
* Oversee and lead the growth of residential and supported living services for individuals with high acuity complex needs.
* Deliver and sustain services for adults with specialist complex needs, including those with learning disabilities, mental health issues, forensic histories, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and hospital discharge.
* Line manage the Regional Leadership Team; develop, deliver and sustain the full portfolio of services; contribute to long-term development strategy.
* Ensure services are compliant with the Health and Social Care Act, CQC Fundamental Standards and local contract monitoring expectations; support Service Managers to meet financial objectives and maximise efficiency and profitability.
* Engage with stakeholders, commissioners and partners; represent the organisation at a strategic level when appropriate.
* Develop robust performance measurement systems and a clear communications strategy to engage colleagues.
* Deputise for the Operations Director as required.
Requirements
* Experience in strategy, consulting, business operations, or a similar analytical role.
* Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to turn complex issues into structured solutions.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to influence and align teams.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with shifting priorities.
* Highly organised, methodical, and detail-oriented, with strong project delivery skills.
* Confident using data and KPIs to measure success and inform decisions.
* Level 5 minimum, Level 6 or 7 preferred.
