Position: SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Burnley Setting: Secondary SEN School Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am – 3:30pm Contract Type: Long-term We are currently looking for a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at a Secondary SEN school in Burnley. This is a long-term role supporting pupils with a wide range of additional needs in a specialist setting. The school supports students with a variety of complex and diverse learning needs. These include Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Autism Spectrum Conditions, Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and general learning difficulties. Each pupil’s needs are unique, and support is carefully tailored to help them access the curriculum and develop essential life skills in a safe and nurturing environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide academic and emotional support to students with a range of needs Assist with classroom activities and adapt materials to suit individual learners Support pupils with personal care, including toileting and hygiene, when required Promote positive behaviour and help students develop social and life skills Work collaboratively with the wider staff team and contribute to the inclusive school ethos Requirements: Experience working in a SEN setting or with children with additional needs Comfortable providing personal care Patient, adaptable and resilient, with a genuine passion for working with young people Understanding of a range of SEN, particularly autism and learning difficulties This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people, supporting their development both academically and personally.
