Role Description
This is a full-time Intermediate Building Services Engineer role based in one of our UK-wide offices. The role involves providing detailed building services support across a wide variety of instructions, spanning RIBA Stages 1 to 7 for developers, investors, agents, landlords, and end-users, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and British Standards, whilst delivering commercially aware, innovative solutions for clients. We are looking for someone wanting to build a varied experience of the built environment, gain commercial awareness to combine whilst expanding their technical capability.
Key responsibilities include:
* Feasibility Assessments
— advising clients on how to realise their aspirations for their assets and spaces, working alongside our Project Management, Building surveying, and ESG (Environmental service lines. In particular ESG targets such as EPC upgrades.
* Technical Due Diligence
— carrying out condition inspections and appraisals to inform client investment and disposal decisions. Please note inspections can be across the UK, however we have a great geographical spread and attempt to keep inspections to a regional bias.
* Dilapidation Assessments
— working in conjunction with surveyors, applying engineering knowledge to support negotiations on behalf of both tenants and landlords
* Project Design & Analysis
— reviewing, designing, and analysing mechanical and electrical systems across a range of building types. Project design for systems in your specialism up to and including RIBA Stage 4a for tender purposes.
* Client Engagement
— directly presenting tailored solutions to clients and communicating complex technical information clearly.
* Multidisciplinary Collaboration
— working closely with wider project teams to ensure projects are delivered holistically to the highest standard.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
* Minimum 3+ years building services industry experience.
* Proficiency in electrical building services design, including electrical distribution, lighting design, smart technology, and life safety systems.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in inspections and performance assessments.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at varying levels of technical knowledge.
* Thorough knowledge of relevant Building Regulations and British Standards in building services engineering.
* Knowledge of both Mechanical and Electrical solutions is advantageous.
* Keen attention to detail with the ability to deliver practical, high-quality solutions.
* Professional accreditation such as CIBSE, IET or IMechE affiliation with an aspiration for full Chartership is advantageous.
* Full UK driving licence is advantageous.
