South West Water is responsible for providing reliable, efficient and high-quality drinking water and wastewater services for the South West. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity based in Totnes with a competitive salary of £34,368 - £40,729 per annum.
You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis and will receive a guaranteed standby allowance, plus additional payments for call out and overtime opportunities. A company van and a range of benefits are provided. The role is a 37-hour week with 1 in 4 Fridays off.

What you will be doing
* Carry out planned maintenance on mechanical equipment to the highest standard of workmanship including, but not limited to:
* Monitor, fault find, maintain and repair a wide variety of equipment on Wastewater Treatment sites, including pumps, gearboxes, and specialist treatment process machinery
* Apply first level maintenance activities to all onsite assets
* Large plant complex repairs
* Work in hazardous environments using Breathing Apparatus and in confined spaces and/or at height if required
* Develop new skills both in and outside your core discipline, such as electrical disconnections
* Develop skills for installing and maintaining mechanical equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres
* Collaborate with other disciplines in a workshop/mobile team
* Maintain a strong focus on health and safety to keep yourself and others safe
* Maintain training and competencies in line with job requirements, including participation in the M+E competency framework
* Part of the role includes responsibility for:
* Providing recommended/detailed specifications of parts for stock and repairs
* Manufacturing and fabrication of parts and equipment
* Undertaking any required training to carry out work activities safely and legally
* Carrying out work activities as scheduled
* Assisting Operational staff with resolution of complex problems
* Keeping internal customers updated on activities that may impact their processes
* Using, or requesting, method statements and safe systems of work for the activities carried out
* Acting as the duty mechanical craftsperson on a standby/call-out rota
What we are looking for
* Completed Apprenticeship in a relevant technical discipline
* Full understanding of RAMS to deliver a safe maintenance regime
* Experience of working with Waste Water treatment processes is desirable
* Ability to fault-find and repair large, complex mechanical equipment
* Full UK driving licence is required
* CompEx 11
* Welding or fabrication experience
