We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a specialist infrastructure delivery business focusing on water, wastewater, civils and associated utility projects. The role offers the opportunity to play a key commercial leadership role across high-value schemes, delivering robust cost control and contract management throughout the project lifecycle.
Role Purpose
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for supporting commercial delivery across major water and infrastructure projects. You’ll work closely with project teams, commercial managers and delivery partners to ensure contracts are administered effectively, costs are controlled and commercial risks are actively managed.
Key Responsibilities
* Support commercial management of multi-discipline infrastructure projects, with particular emphasis on water and wastewater schemes.
* Prepare, review and monitor cost plans, estimates, budgets and cashflow forecasts.
* Administer contracts, including NEC4 (essential) and other relevant forms, managing compensation events and change control.
* Lead subcontractor procurement, evaluation of quotations and package pricing.
* Prepare valuations, interim applications for payment and contributory final account negotiations.
* Contribute to risk and opportunity management, identifying commercial exposures and mitigation strategies.
* Produce accurate and timely commercial reporting, cost performance analyses and forecasting.
* Liaise with operational, design and planning teams to ensure commercial best practice and alignment with delivery objectives.
* Support tender preparation and bid submissions where required.
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
* Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in quantity surveying within a contracting environment, ideally in water, wastewater, utilities or civils projects.
* Strong commercial management experience, with NEC4 contract application and administration.
* Excellent analytical, numerical and commercial awareness skills.
* Proven ability to manage project costs, valuations and subcontractor accounts.
* Effective communication skills with ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
* Proficient in MS Office and commercial cost systems.
* Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
Desirable:
* Chartered or working towards MRICS or equivalent professional qualification.
* Experience within water frameworks (AMP programmes) or major civil delivery frameworks.
* Previous involvement in bidding and tender preparation
