About the opportunity
We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team. You'll be joining Soben at an exciting time, playing a key role in helping us achieve our ambitious growth targets. Supporting one of our key construction clients in the region, you will be responsible for developing and implementing key procurement and commercial strategies across a range of projects in our business.
What you'll do
1. Prepare costed estimates and cost plans for review, including benchmarking.
2. Develop value engineering and life cycle costing options.
3. Identify potential risks and assist with maintaining the risk register.
4. Contribute to meetings on the pre-contract process.
5. Assist in the preparation of procurement strategies and reports.
6. Attend client meetings with senior colleagues and record relevant discussion points and actions.
7. Participate in design team meetings, capturing and advising on potential cost implications.
8. Assist in lease negotiations and validation of tenant improvement allowances.
9. Contribute to the development of project templates.
10. Assist with change order logs, invoice logs, and cost reports.
11. Support measurements and research pricing for development appraisals.
12. Draft and review pre-qualification questionnaires and responses.
13. Perform additional duties as assigned.
About you
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
* Experience in cost estimating.
* Familiarity with CostX.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Knowledge of relevant construction technologies and sustainability trends.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Organized and detail-oriented.
* Field experience is a plus.
