The Role – Graduate SEMH Teaching Assistant
As a Graduate SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:
* Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
* Use de-escalation, emotional regulation, and behaviour support strategies
* Help pupils build confidence, resilience, and positive relationships
* Support learning in the classroom and adapt activities based on individual needs
* Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to deliver tailored support plans
* Assist with daily routines, safe spaces, and structured activities to promote wellbeing
* Create a nurturing, calm, and consistent environment that helps students thrive

Person Specification
To be successful, you must:
* Hold a degree in Psychology, Mental Health, Education, Criminology, Sociology, or a related field
* Have graduated within the last two years
* Be passionate about SEMH, mental health, and supporting vulnerable pupils
* Have strong communication skills and emotional resilience
* Be patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure
* Any experience in youth work, behaviour mentoring, SEN support, mental health work, or children’s services is desirable (but not essential)
