Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Your Contribution:
Provide comprehensive inpatient medical services for elderly patients.
Take responsibility for the diagnosis and treatment of elderly patients.
Undertake a weekly outpatient clinic (with potential for a rapid access clinic).
Participate in a 1:11 Consultant general medical on-call rota (weekday advice/call-in 22:00-08:00).
Provide professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
MBBS or equivalent.
Membership with the relevant Royal College for Physicians.
GMC registration and license to practice.
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Geriatrics and general medicine via a. CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview), b. CESR or (c) European Community rights
Desirable criteria
Higher degree e.g MD, PhD, Masters in other subjects (Education leadership)
Experience And Skills
Essential criteria
Should have completed a recognised training programme in General Internal Medicine.
Must be able to demonstrate a hight level of clinical experience and competence in GIM
Knowledge of current trends in speciality.
IT skills.
Teaching
Essential Criteria
Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, post-graduates and junior medical staff.
Audit and Research

Evidence of participation in clinical audit relevant to specialty.
