We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Perinatal Practitioner to work with the Dorset Perinatal Community Mental Health service. We welcome Professional Registration from disciplines including Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker.
The service offers specialist mental health treatment to women experiencing mental health difficulties in the perinatal period. This is an opportunity for professionals passionate about Perinatal Mental Health to join our Perinatal Services.

The perinatal service has one of the highest staff retention rates in the South West and attracts high-caliber professionals locally and nationally.
The Community Perinatal Mental Health Team covers PAN Dorset, ensuring accessible services across the county with main offices at Dorchester (Forston Clinic) and Bournemouth (Alumhurst Road). This position specifically covers the EAST of Dorset geographically.
Note: Applications requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are ineligible.
The practitioner will provide care for women with moderate to severe mental health issues during pregnancy and up to one year postnatally, working across inpatient and community outreach settings.
You will participate in developing a high-quality, innovative service for women, their babies, and partners. Responsibilities include assessment, treatment, and monitoring of mental health, parenting skills, individual and group work, and therapeutic interventions.
Collaboration with local CMHTs, Child & Family Social Services, and Health Visitors is essential.
The role involves working closely with the Perinatal Mental Health Service Team Leader, overseeing service operations in their absence, including staffing, referrals, and workload management.
Employment requires an Enhanced DBS check, which the Trust covers. Applicants with a valid DBS update service subscription may present their certificate.
