Pulse has recently partnered with one of the UK’s specialist providers of diagnostic and healthcare solutions. We are currently looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to provide support for the clinical leadership of the service. This post is based in Birmingham, which is easily accessible via public transport.
About the role:
As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will work in a specialist school for children and young people aged 7 to 19 years. The specialist multi-disciplinary team supports young people living with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum condition (ASC), communication and sensory difficulties, attachment difficulties, childhood trauma, and moderate learning difficulties (MLD) towards achieving positive outcomes in preparation for adulthood.
Your main responsibilities include:
* Managing your own caseload by providing therapy services according to clinical needs in close liaison with the school’s clinical team.
* Participating in multi-disciplinary meetings, staff meetings, supervision, training, and annual appraisals.
* Identifying speech, language, and communication difficulties or disorders; assessing the causes and nature of these problems.
* Devising and delivering suitable therapeutic programs, working one-to-one or in groups, to maximize each young person’s improvement.
* Planning and delivering training sessions for staff and parents/carers, as appropriate.
Qualifications and experience we seek:
* HCPC registration
* Experience working with young people with neurodevelopmental disorders
* Experience working with young people with developmental trauma within a Trauma-Informed Model
* Skilled in conducting both individual and group interventions
* Ability to drive
