This support department is tasked with multiple responsibilities throughout the brewery, therefore providing a unique opportunity to become well-versed in many areas. The Plant Utilities Technician will assist with operation of the wastewater treatment plant, perform daily chemical analyses on brewery water and chemical systems, audit brewery CIP's, monitor carbon dioxide system, and maintain all aspects of chemical usage on site. Please Note: This is a 1st shift position, working Tuesday through Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with flexibility as needed.
What You Will Do
1. Assists with the daily operation of our wastewater treatment plant in accordance with our sewer permit. Conducts daily laboratory analyses on pre and post process waters, data analysis, biogas monitoring, and reports data in timely fashion.
2. Performs daily analyses of brewery water systems including but not limited to deaerated water, dechlorinated water, chlorine dioxide-treated water, cooling towers, and plant boilers
3. Audits brewery CIP/SIP (Clean/Sanitize in Place) processes to ensure efficacy while seeking opportunities for improvements and water savings; conducts daily testing on caustic and acid tanks to ensure optimal chemical concentrations
4. Maintains chemical inventory throughout the brewery; receives bulk deliveries, re-orders, stocks, and handles chemicals and test kits in accordance with local and federal regulations
5. Inspects, tests, diagnoses, and repairs equipment and instrumentation; responds to urgent needs across brewery as needed
6. Reports out-of-specification results and/or malfunctioning equipment with appropriate urgency; writes work order requests and notifies management as appropriate to maintain integrity of brewery utilities systems
7. Monitors carbon dioxide recovery, storage, and vaporization systems to ensure adequate supply and quality of CO2
8. Performs housekeeping functions in assigned areas to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment
9. Assist with lubrication, filter changes, and basic component replacements to maintain optimal equipment performance.
10. Support troubleshooting efforts for mechanical issues in utility systems and escalate complex problems to Maintenance Technicians or Engineering.
11. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment performance in CMMS
Please Apply if You Have
12. Bachelor's Degree chemistry, biology, brewing/food science, or any combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved required
13. 3 years experience in wastewater treatment, laboratory analysis, or food or beverage production required
14. Previous experience demonstrating mechanical aptitude or minor maintenance responsibilities in a manufacturing or utility environment preferred
15. General knowledge of laboratory analysis, water chemistry, and chemical safety
16. An understanding of chemical composition, applicable uses, and safe handling practices
17. Proficient with Microsoft Office365
18. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
19. Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hand tools and diagnostic equipment
20. Ability to perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance tasks independently
21. Basic understanding of mechanical systems such as pumps, motors and valves
22. Internal Certification to Operate Heavy Equipment including Forklifts, Genie Booms, scissor lifts, etc. within 90 Days required
