Archbishop Ilsley Catholic School is seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, and friendly individual with excellent communication skills who is a team player and preferably has experience in a similar role.

The successful candidate will perform various tasks including providing cover at Reception, offering frontline service to pupils, operating the switchboard, handling inquiries from pupils, parents, staff, and visitors, as well as word processing and data entry.

Archbishop Ilsley is a large oversubscribed Catholic Secondary School located in Acocks Green, on the border of Hall Green and Yardley. It caters to pupils aged 11 to 18, with 210 pupils per year and a growing sixth form. The school was rated ‘good’ by OFSTED in June 2018, with strong GCSE results including over 50% receiving a grade B and 25% achieving A or A* grades.

Post Title: Receptionist
Start date: September 2025 or as close as possible
Post Purpose:

* Uphold the Catholic Life and Mission of the school.
* Enhance pupil attainment and achievement within their curriculum area.
* Be accountable for pupil progress within the curriculum area.

Reporting to: Senior Office Manager
Working Time: Full-time Contract
Salary/Grade: Grade 2 (40 hours per week – 8am – 4:30pm, Term time only + 2 weeks over holidays) - (£24,027- £25,992)

Disclosure Level: Enhanced

Job Purpose:
To support the Catholic ethos of the school and, under the supervision of the Office Manager, to provide reception, switchboard, and clerical support to ensure the smooth running of the school's administrative functions.

* Provide reception and switchboard support, including greeting visitors, operating the switchboard, relaying messages, and managing deliveries.
* Support administrative tasks such as mail handling, word processing, filing, and reprographics.
* Ensure health and safety compliance and participate in training and development activities.

Professional Standards:
Support the school's aims, treat all community members with respect, promote fairness, uphold the school's policies, and participate in school events and meetings. Take responsibility for professional development, health and safety, and adhere to deadlines and policies.
