We’re looking for a Gameplay Engineer to join our team on a fixed-term contract basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a high-impact contribution, taking ownership of core gameplay mechanics to ensure that the moment-to-moment player experience is polished, responsive, and engaging.
This is a fixed term contract until November 2026 (we therefore cannot offer sponsorship for this vacancy)
Here’s just a snippet of what you’ll be up to:
1. Implement gameplay features using C++ and Unreal Engine.
2. Collaborate with design to prototype and iterate on new mechanics.
3. Debug, optimise, and maintain gameplay systems.
4. Review code and contribute to technical and cross discipline discussions.
5. Work closely with animation, audio, and VFX teams.
6. Identify risks, manage dependencies, and support project planning.
7. Tackle driven engineering challenges, including bespoke frameworks and internal mesh networking.
What we’re looking for:
8. Strong professional experience in gameplay programming.
9. Proficiency in C++ and Unreal Engine.
10. Solid understanding of Unreal Actor and Component architecture, including GAS.
11. Familiarity with replication/networking, multiplayer systems, and physics in live environments.
12. Knowledge of Sequencer and sequencer-based workflows.
13. Expertise in profiling using Insights, CSV, and LLM optimisation techniques.
14. Understanding of Unreal game feature plugins and core engine architecture.
15. Experience developing for Gen9, Gen8, PC, and mobile platforms.
16. Experience with gameplay systems (combat, traversal, interactions, AI, narrative).
17. Ability to collaborate across multidiscipline teams.
18. Experience with Perforce or Git.
