Advanced Practitioner – Children with Disabilities Location: Southend on Sea Salary: £46,142-£52,413 Contract: Permanent, Full-time Hours: 37 hours per week Are you an experienced and passionate social work professional looking to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people? Working on behalf of Southend on Sea Borough Council, We are seeking an Advanced Practitioner to join their dedicated team, working with children with disabilities and their families while mentoring and supporting less experienced colleagues. About the Role As an Advanced Practitioner, you will: Manage complex cases involving some of the most vulnerable children in our community. Provide professional and comprehensive casework for a caseload of children and young people appropriate to your experience. Support children with disabilities and their families, maintaining a safeguarding approach at all times. Prepare reports, statements, and care plans for Family Proceedings, County, and High Courts. Work collaboratively with families, carers, and multi-agency partners to deliver needs-led services. Use a range of therapeutic skills and interventions to ensure children reach their full potential. Mentor and guide less experienced colleagues, providing supervision and professional support. Oversee transition plans for young people moving into adulthood. Allocate and review direct work with Family Support Workers, monitoring outcomes and impact. Maintain accurate case records using ICT and report on key performance data. Ensure all work complies with statutory requirements, council policies, and best practice guidance. Skilled in safeguarding, assessment, and care planning. Experienced in working with children with disabilities and their families. Knowledgeable about relevant legislation, policy, and good practice. Confident in preparing reports for court proceedings and multi-agency meetings. Able to mentor and support junior staff effectively. Able to travel to visit children, families, and partner agencies as required. This role requires an Enhanced DBS check and a commitment to child-centred practice at all times.
