Job Description:
A local authority has a temporary need to support their existing team for an Environmental Health Officer to work within the team to carry out inspections and deal with complaints.
Job Summary:
To deliver a range of duties related to providing the functions of the Business Compliance Team, particularly in food hygiene, health and safety, and infectious disease control functions. Responsibilities include investigating complaints, conducting programmed inspections, and delivering projects related to business compliance and public health. The role supports the Council’s vision to work together to shape the environment, drive the economy, and support communities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Deliver the Council’s responses and duties in line with policies, procedures, performance indicators, and best practices across services such as:
* Food hygiene
* Health and safety at work
* Infectious disease control
* Private water supplies
* Welfare funerals
* Other related public health functions
* Prepare evidence and appear in court or inquiries as required.
* Prepare and issue statutory proceedings professionally and in accordance with the Council's processes.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
* Certificate of Registration from the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) or equivalent.
* Qualifications and up-to-date competencies for officers undertaking official food hygiene controls (see Chapter 4 of the Food Law Practice Guidance (England) or its successor).
* Previous regulatory experience in:
* Health and safety at work
* Infectious disease control
* Welfare funerals
* Private water supplies
Lead food hygiene auditor qualification is preferred. A driving license and access to a vehicle are essential.
What You'll Get in Return:
This is a 6-month contract with weekly pay. You can choose to work via Umbrella or PAYE. The role is inside IR35.
