Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 to join a team of Resuscitation Officers within the Corporate Division. The post is to cover maternity leave for a fixed term/secondment until November 2025. As this is a short term contract we are looking for an experienced individual who is already able to teach ILS or PILS courses.

The team provides a comprehensive, efficient and effective clinical and educational service across ESNEFT.

Our purpose is to ensure the delivery of a quality cost effective resuscitation service, which includes educating and training staff to ensure they are equipped with the rights skills, values and behaviors to provide safe effective care and positive experiences for patients, families and staff.

The role also includes:

* Maintaining clinical skills by attending cardiac arrests / clinical emergencies
* Involvement in clinical audit
* Organization of emergency equipment throughout the Trust.
* Registered Nurse / ODP / Paramedic with post registration experience in acute / critical care
* ILS instructor / PILS instructor
* Clinical teaching experience

You will be expected to work flexibly and travel to all sites as required, therefore a car will be required.


Main duties of the job

* To act as an informed resource in resuscitation issues for all staff within the Trust
* To contribute to the planning, organisation and implementation of an effective resuscitation service
* To teach resuscitation skills in line with Trust protocols and Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines
* To take part in clinical research and audit
* To ensure a standardised approach to resuscitation and resuscitation training throughout the Trust, recognising the differing needs of Trust staff

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* To participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies / guidelines / procedures relating to resuscitation and DNACPR throughout the Trust
* To establish and maintain effective lines of communication with Trust employees and management
* To deliver teaching to nursing, medical and other appropriate staff in resuscitation
* To attend calls to the cardiac arrest team (adult and paediatric)
* To assist in the audit requirements of the department

PROFESSIONAL ROLE:

* To promote the importance of resuscitation throughout the Trust
* To assist in the implementation of an effective equipment replacement programme when required
* Will be a member of the Resuscitation Committee
* Will deputise at meetings when required
* Will take personal responsibility for own professional development and keep up to date with resuscitation developments
* Will maintain effective teamwork and communication within the Resuscitation Department

CLINICAL ROLE:

* To maintain clinical expertise by attending resuscitation attempts
* To ensure that procedures carried out are within current Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines
* To act as a role model in resuscitation practice, leading the cardiac arrest team where necessary
* To ensure that resuscitation attempts attended are accurately documented

Person specification


Qualifications

* Registered General Nurse, ODP or Paramedic
* Resuscitation Council (UK) ILS Instructor or Instructor Potential
* ALS instructor/provider
* EPLS/APLS provider


Experience

* Post registration experience in an acute or critical care environment with exposure to cardiac arrests
* Previous teaching experience
* Exposure to adult and paediatric emergencies


Skills and knowledge

* Knowledge of current Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Debriefing and bereavement skills
* Able to prioritise and adapt to workload
* Participation in clinical audit
* Ability to manage and lead a team
* Evidence of project management
