Right to work
Before we can employ you, we are required to verify your eligibility to work in the UK & Ireland. Acceptable documents to evidence your right to work can be found here. You\'ll need to provide original documents such as a valid passport or a valid UK/Ireland visa (with a college letter listing term dates, where applicable). Only original documents will be accepted.
Interview questions and process
The interview is an absolutely vital part of our hiring process. Without it, we wouldn\'t get a proper picture of what kind of person you are, and whether you\'d be a great fit at McDonald\'s. The interview will normally involve a set of questions around values and attitudes and will allow the interviewee to really show us why they\'re the right person for the job. For instance, we might ask for an example of times you\'ve worked as part of a team and how you made a difference to that team. In short, we look for people who have the right attitudes and behaviours to deliver a great customer and colleague experience; we hire for qualities and potential, rather than qualifications.
Prospects and career development
Our employees tend to stick around. Partly because it\'s a fun, sociable and flexible place to work, but also because there are opportunities to progress into roles with more responsibility. In fact, 9 out of 10 of our restaurant managers, and 1 in 5 of our franchisees, started out as crew members behind the counter or in the kitchens. We\'ve also been recognised as a leading employer over the years, offering award-winning learning, nationally-recognised qualifications, comprehensive benefits and flexible working arrangements, as well as a well-proven career path.
Role expectations
Friendly, welcoming, courteous and helpful behaviour will come naturally to you and you\'ll work well as part of a team. Effective communication skills such as attentive listening, face-to-face verbal communication and eye contact are a must. The ability to maintain high energy levels whilst working both efficiently and productively is essential. Quite simply, you\'ll be working in our fast moving, high energy environment and we\'re looking for a genuine smile, enthusiasm, energy, plus an ability to connect with customers and make them feel valued. You\'ll be a customer experience leader.

Role responsibilities
Join us and you\'ll become part of a team that works together to provide the best customer experience. McDonald\'s sustainability plans include steps towards a more sustainable business and future, including initiatives such as net-zero restaurants.
Pay frequency and shifts
Pay frequency varies by franchise vs company-owned locations: typically every 2 or 4 weeks for hourly paid employees, and monthly for employees on a dedicated salary. Most restaurants are open 24 hours a day. Shifts are scheduled to suit you while considering location needs and working time legislation.

Just one of the benefits of working at McDonald\'s is that you don\'t have to worry about what to wear to work; we will supply you with a uniform.
