A Snapshot of Your Day:
The Project Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Advisor is responsible for supporting and providing competent advice to Project teams in ensuring that all relevant EHS aspects and resource requirements at each step of an assigned project are identified and evaluated in accordance with internal Siemens Energy requirements. This is a roaming role to provide additional support to projects when needed, perhaps because the project is at a complex and high-risk stage, or due to staff annual leave.
How You’ll Make an Impact
1. Support the integration of EHS requirements in bid documents, ensuring applicable EHS requirements and resources are reflected accordingly in the bid and contract preparation and the project calculation.
2. Support the Project Manager in updating the EHS risk evaluation and ensure that all EHS-related information and documents are properly handed over to the execution project manager.
3. Participate in an initial inspection of the site / installation and construction environment and additionally drafts the project Construction Phase Plan and secondary plans such as Local Emergency Response Plan, Traffic Management Plan, etc.
4. Update and finalize the Construction Phase Plan and secondary plans, cross-checking that the Plans cover all requirements from the Client and SE EHS Management System and ensure that it adequately sets out the project systems for controlling, organizing, monitoring and reviewing arrangements in place to protect the environment and people.
5. Support in ensuring that all dangerous goods activities within the project are in compliance with the applicable national and international dangerous goods regulations, including reshipments concerning wrong/defect deliveries or shipments in connection with disposal.
6. Undertake regular inspections and audits of construction activities.
7. Assist Site management team in completion of EHS activities including; delivering site inductions, verification of training and competency of those working at site, ensuring site EHS records are maintained as required by the SE Site Management Manual.
8. Coordinate and deliver EHS campaigns on site as required.
9. To support, compile monthly reports and undertake investigations throughout the construction/installation phase, commissioning phase and project closure phase.
10. The role is based on the construction sites. It will also include attendance at Client and internal project meetings as required.
What You Bring
* Hold a NEBOSH Certificate and ideally a Diploma or equivalent in Health & Safety Management.
* A diploma or equivalent in Environmental Management would be desirable.
* Detailed knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation pertaining to large construction projects including legislation applicable to both offshore and onshore operations.
* Experience in undertaking inspections.
* Experience of working with standards (ISO45001, ISO14001).
* Experience in developing and fulfilling the EHS arrangements for Principal Contractor on projects where the Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations apply.
Other mandatory competencies may include: CDM Awareness, HSG47 awareness training, CCNSG Passport, Accident investigation, Safety by Design, Fire Safety and be an IOSH Member.
Other desirable competencies include: BESC, National Grid Person, Helicopter Underwater Escape Training, BOSIET/GWO Sea Survival or equivalent, GWO Working at Heights, Safety coaching/behavioural safety, and First Aid at Work (3-day course including use of defibrillator).
