Position Overview:
The Facilities Engineer is a key role for the business. Assess asset health and create plans to effectively maintain / upgrade site facilities & equipment. Maintain contractor control & ensure all site work is completed in a safe manner and in accordance with site rules.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct duties with the highest standard of health & safety, quality and housekeeping.
2. Manage contractor personnel onsite ensuring that the company rules and safety legislation are adhered to at all times.
3. Act as an ambassador for the business when dealing with 3rd party vendors, portraying the highest level of professionalism at all times.
4. Liaise with internal departments to plan in statutory inspections & maintenance works ahead of time.
5. Lead in the development of preventative maintenance plans for the department and be instrumental in the transition to a CMMS methodology.
6. Ensure that all internal preventative maintenance duties are completed on time by the team & any follow-up work is planned in & completed in a timely fashion.
7. Perform ‘On-Call’ response & support for Facilities based out-of-hours issues as required to cover business needs.
8. React to unplanned facilities-based breakdowns & actions in a timely manner.
9. Provide guidance & mentorship to the wider team where appropriate.
10. Contribute skills & experience in the implementation of capital projects within the department & wider engineering team.
11. Analyse technical problems & develop appropriate solutions.
12. Keep abreast of legislative changes & areas of responsibility for the department.
13. Actively seek to reduce business costs & implement cost-saving initiatives.
14. Act as a deputy for the department in occasions of absence of the Manager.
15. Work effectively within a diverse, cross functional group.


Skills & Experience:

16. Experience in maintenance and installation of a broad range of services and facilities within a manufacturing / engineering environment.
17. Experience of working with clean-room/controlled environment conditions.
18. Experience of working with AHU’s & HVAC systems.
19. Experience of, or capability to adapt to a multi-skilled, flexible way of working, with effective range of skills across mechanical, electrical and other aspects.
20. Experience of working with, supervising and taking responsibility for external contractors and other service providers. Ability to support the effective operation of a Permit to Work system and other procedures and controls in support of this.
21. Experience in working effectively within diverse, cross functional team.
22. Demonstrated ability to analyse technical problems and develop an appropriate solution.
23. Experience in developing successful new systems, practices, procedures within a Production/Maintenance Engineering technical operation
24. Ability to judge the technical complexity of a task/activity and match appropriate resource to undertake successful accomplishment of that task/project.
25. Experience of effective communication skills in verbal and written formats.
26. Continuous and on-going development of skills and experience.
27. Evidence of understanding and capability across mechanical, electrical and control functions, also basic building maintenance. Evidence of ability to communicate this knowledge to others.
28. Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings.
29. Understanding of maintenance/technical support of diverse manufacturing processes. Thorough grasp of standards required to make this interface effective.
30. Understanding of principles/systems to support effective maintenance of a broad range of facilities and utilities.
31. Broad knowledge and understanding of engineering within the Medical Device industry and associated regulations.
32. Ability to work to and set the highest standards in health and safety of self and colleagues. Capable of setting and maintaining the highest standards of housekeeping in all aspects of work.
33. Understanding of a range of engineering machines/processes functions within manufacturing.
34. Understanding and integration of customer needs to support business requirements.


Qualifications/Education:

35. Craft engineering technician qualifications C&G, ONC/HNC, BTEC national certification
