Group Head of Market Research & Insights
Location: Remote, UK (with travel across Europe & North America as required)
Up to: £120,000 (30% bonus, Car allowance..more)
Cedar is supporting the search for a Group Head of Market Research & Insights to join a global Market Intelligence function within a large, multi-national organisation.
This is a pivotal Group-level leadership role, responsible for advancing and coordinating Market Research capabilities in line with expanding strategic priorities, emerging risks and competitive challenges. The successful candidate will balance global strategy, scale and comparability with local market agility and decision-making speed.
The Role
As Group Head of Market Research & Insights, you will define and lead the global Market Research vision, framework and priorities across the organisation.
You will work closely with Business Units (BUs), Regional General Managers, SLT members and Research Leads to translate business needs into a coordinated Group Market Research agenda. A key focus will be fostering collaboration across markets, strengthening standards and methodologies, and enhancing the overall impact of Market Intelligence on executive decision-making.
You will also play a central role in evolving research capability, including embedding advances in AI within Market Research practices.
Key Responsibilities
Define & Deliver the Global Market Research Agenda
* Own and coordinate Group Market Intelligence priorities.
* Translate business needs into a clear, prioritised research roadmap.
* Lead delivery of the agenda in partnership with BU Researchers.
* Balance global consistency and comparability with local agility.
Build & Champion Capability
* Assess current and future research capability across BUs and identify gaps.
* Champion the case for investment in Market Research resources.
* Identify and develop key research talent across the Group.
Lead the Market Research Community
* Expand the existing Global Research Meeting into a broader Market Insight forum, incorporating SMEs across:
o Voice of Customer
o Key Account
o Insurance & Competitor Insights
o Brand Insights
o Technical Research & Trends
* Drive knowledge sharing and embed AI-enabled approaches across the community.
Develop Toolkits, Methodologies & Standards
* Enhance Group-wide research toolkits, methodologies and governance standards.
* Leverage BU best practice and innovation to strengthen capability.
* Introduce thought leadership and cost-effective research approaches.
* Build strong relationships with external research agencies to support multi-country and specialist studies.
* Partner with Legal to ensure compliance with competition law and data protection requirements.
Drive Engagement & Impact
* Synthesise research outputs into engaging, actionable Market Intelligence reports.
* Proactively engage Regional and BU Executive teams.
* Leverage existing forums (e.g. Sales & Marketing roadshows) and develop new engagement platforms such as Market Intelligence Days or newsletters.
About You
You will be an experienced Market Research or Strategy leader with a strong analytical foundation and the ability to operate effectively within a matrix organisation.
Essential
* 15+ years' experience in highly analytical roles focused on strategy and/or market research
(10+ years considered with exceptional academic track record and directly relevant experience)
* Experience working within matrix-style organisational structures
* Strong leadership capability across direct and indirect relationships
* Executive-level communication and storytelling skills
* Advanced analytical capability with working knowledge of statistical methodologies
* Ability to translate technical insight into clear, actionable business narratives
* Numerate degree (e.g. Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business)
Desirable
* Experience in automotive, retail, airline, service-led sectors, management consulting or research institutes
* Multi-national experience
* Experience establishing or developing Market Research capability (agency or consulting background beneficial)
* Postgraduate qualification in Business or related discipline
