In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the seamless operation of our clients practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical administration, excellent organisational skills, and a commitment to delivering top-notch service to both patients and practitioners.
Your responsibilities will include managing appointments, handling correspondence, and maintaining accurate patient records, all while ensuring a positive and professional environment. You will act as a liaison between patients and clinicians, facilitating effective communication and ensuring that all queries are addressed promptly. This position requires keen attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and a thorough understanding of medical terminology and patient privacy regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Schedule and manage appointments for patients, ensuring efficient use of time for consultants
* Handle incoming correspondence, including phone calls and emails, with a professional and friendly demeanor
* Prepare and maintain patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations
* Assist in the preparation of reports, referrals, and other medical documents as required
* Manage self-funded billing queries and obtain insured patient data
* Coordinate with medical staff to facilitate smooth operations within the practice
* Follow-up with patients regarding appointments, consultations, and necessary documentation
Requirements
* Proven experience as a medical secretary or in a similar role within a healthcare setting
* In-depth knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures
* Strong proficiency in office software, particularly MS Office and EMR systems
* Exceptional organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong customer service focus
* Attention to detail and a professional approach to handling sensitive information
* Relevant qualifications in medical administration or a related field are preferred
