We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We’re there for children, every step of the way. This role sits within our Emotional Wellbeing & Mental Health domain in Youth Impact. We’re looking for enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to join our team as Trainee EMHPs, helping to deliver early intervention and low-intensity mental health support in educational settings with young people aged 5-18. As a Trainee EMHP, you will: Undertake a fully funded postgraduate training programme delivered by Northumbria University. Learn to deliver evidence-based interventions, including low-intensity CBT, to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. Work in schools and colleges to provide one-to-one, small group, and whole-class support. Collaborate with education staff, families, and wider services to promote emotional wellbeing. We welcome applicants from a range of backgrounds, including: Psychology, education, youth work, social care, or health. Lived experience of mental health challenges or supporting others. A genuine interest in working with children and young people. You’ll need: A minimum of a Level 5 qualification (e.g., foundation degree or equivalent). Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A commitment to promoting mental health and wellbeing in schools. Able to support and empower children, young people and their parents/carers and families and their educators to make informed choices. Have excellent attention to detail, in all aspects of the role. The ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. The ability to build trusting relationships and support young people with their mental health. The ability to juggle both learning and practice delivery at the same time. If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. Every day, we make a positive difference in the lives of children across the country - and with your help, we can reach even more tomorrow. Join us and be part of a team that’s shaping brighter futures. The Children’s Society is committed to safeguarding and protecting the children and young people that we work with. As such, all posts are subject to a safer recruitment process, including the disclosure of criminal records and vetting checks. We ensure that we have a range of policies and procedures in place which promote safeguarding and safer working practices across our services. Therefore, candidates applying for work in our Youth Impact Domain will be required to complete an “Employment history_template” document prior to interview. The fully completed document should be loaded by the candidate at the point of uploading your CV. The closing date for applications is 23.59 on Wednesday 22nd October. If after 14 days, we have received enough applications we reserve the right to close the vacancy early from the 20th October onwards. Interviews will be held in collaboration with Northumbria University following this date. IN1
