The Whitechapel Centre's mission is to prevent and resolve homelessness, social exclusion and housing poverty by providing practical, tailored support so that each person can find and sustain a home and achieve their potential.
Our Recovery Support Service is an exciting new project aimed at supporting people who are experiencing housing-related problems in their homes which relate to issues caused by drug and alcohol dependency - helping them to resolve their housing-related issues and to engage with drug and alcohol treatment services. This is part of a national pilot to understand which approaches improve recovery outcomes for people experiencing housing-related need. Funding is to end of March 2026 in the first instance with the intention of securing continuation funding from that date.
We are looking for someone with experience of delivering services to people who may be at risk of becoming homeless who have drug and alcohol dependency or other housing-related needs. Taking a trauma-informed and 'housing led' approach your role will involve working flexibly to provide holistic, individualised assessment and asset-based support planning, including working in partnership with other agencies to: identify barriers and underlying reasons why people have a housing-related need; remove low level problems such as rent arrears, disrepair, landlord complaints which can put people at risk of homelessness and support people to address their alcohol or drug use and to access appropriate treatment services
In return we offer a supportive work environment, good pension and health benefits.
