Overview
Specialist Occupational Therapist, Orthopaedic Oncology Team at Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) NHS Trust. The role is within the well-established orthopaedic oncology team to provide tailored, individualised care to patients with complex conditions including sarcoma and metastatic cancer, including metastatic spinal cord compression. The position is ideally suited to an existing or emerging band 6 occupational therapist. RNOH supports staff development in clinical and non-clinical areas with supervision, CPD opportunities, and leadership support for emerging band 6 therapists.
Responsibilities
* Provide a comprehensive Occupational Therapy service for clients with a wide variety of complex and multiple disabilities within the specialties of sarcoma and oncology. Independently assess and treat patients from pre-assessment through the acute post-operative phase of inpatient care, including short-stay, in-patient rehabilitation and outpatient rehabilitation.
* Work as part of the weekend Occupational Therapy service supporting discharges from inpatient wards.
* Collaborate with OT and PT colleagues in the sarcoma service for clients with complex needs.
* Assess and treat highly complex patients in this clinical unit (with support where needed) and contribute to service development and the learning culture within the team/department and with students.
* Deputise for the Band 7 Team Lead Occupational Therapist in their absence, including administrative, managerial and clinical tasks.
