The successful candidate will have experience of responding quickly to changing customer and service needs. This is a busy and varied role offering support with library services as well as a range of Council services which include processing applications for National Entitlement Cards or assistance in accessing Council services online so strong digital, communication and people skills are crucial. Libraries are warm spaces within local communities and offer opportunities to reduce social isolation by providing a welcoming atmosphere as well as group activities for adults. Libraries are very popular with children and young people and the successful candidate will have experience of and enjoy working with them. Regular tasks include leading Bookbug song and rhyme sessions, sensory story times, code clubs and other groups for children and families. Our teams work flexibly across our offices and while the successful candidates for these posts will have a base of either Musselburgh or Haddington Libraries they will cover other locations across East Lothian at short notice so flexibility and access to transport is crucial although travel expenses can be claimed.
