About The Role
Balfour Beatty is seeking a Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Advisor to join our Regional Buildings team in South West England. This position will support various projects across the region, with the initial project located in Hereford. Lodging is available for the initial role.
As an HSW Advisor, you will collaborate closely with the project team to improve HSW performance, offering advice and support to meet operational goals. You will also assist the Head of HSW and Senior HSW Advisor in achieving our Zero Harm objectives.
Note: All staff on this site must complete high-level security vetting. Due to security clearance protocols, applications are only accepted from UK Nationals eligible for SC Clearance.
What you'll be doing
1. Understand and support the delivery of the UK HSW Strategy.
2. Contribute to the implementation, delivery, and review of the Zero Harm and Sustainability Action Plans.
3. Support the delivery of HS&W Key Performance Indicators at project and business levels.
4. Assist work-winning teams with HS&W responses for bids, proposals, and PQQs.
5. Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses according to Balfour Beatty standards and BMS requirements.
6. Develop and review local risk-based Service Level Agreements with operational management.
7. Conduct regular site inspections based on the project risk matrix.
8. Produce reports on HS&W inspections using the Project Portal, ensuring compliance with UK regulations and standards.
9. Regularly review Health and Safety Risk Management practices to ensure risks and opportunities are addressed.
Who we're looking for
The following qualities and experience are essential:
1. Relevant H&S Diploma, NVQ, Degree, or equivalent (Level 6). Candidates working towards these qualifications with relevant experience may be considered.
2. Ability to complete high-level security vetting for the project.
3. UK National with eligibility for SC Clearance.
4. Working towards or holding Chartered Membership of IOSH.
5. Ability to promote a positive HS&W culture.
6. Experience in incident investigation.
7. Strong understanding of UK Health and Safety regulations and Business Management Systems.
8. Skilled in preparing formal HS&W reports.
9. Experience in project planning and management.
10. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
11. Broad experience with complex construction and civils projects.
12. Excellent communication skills at all levels.
13. Full UK driving license.
