Are you passionate about safeguarding children and young people from abuse and neglect? Do you want to play a vital role in ensuring their safety and well-being? We have an excellent opportunity for a Case Conference Officer to join our Victims and Safeguarding department at Bridgewater Police Centre.

We have a permanent role of 32 hours per week available within our team. This crucial role allows you to make a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable children within our communities by working closely with partner agencies and families. You will participate in Child Protection Case Conferences to assess risks and develop safeguarding strategies that provide meaningful support to children and their families.Your role will directly contribute to protecting vulnerable children and promoting their welfare.

The work our team do, can often be difficult, challenging and involve sensitive issues; however, it can be extremely rewarding. We are a collaborative team that provides continuous support and guidance, ensuring you always have someone to discuss concerns with and seek assistance from. In this role, your main responsibilities will include:

* Responding to invitations for child safeguarding case conferences and conducting necessary checks.
* Attending and contributing to conferences by sharing police information, discussing concerns, and participating in protection planning.
* Engaging in the decision-making processes and documenting key justifications for safeguarding strategies.
* Compiling police reports on child safeguarding matters and ensuring that databases and digital systems are updated accurately.

What We Are Looking For:

* Experience working within a multi-agency safeguarding environment, with knowledge of safeguarding legislation.
* Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with professionals and families.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience maintaining records and producing concise reports.
* Excellent time management and the ability to remain calm when handling complex and sensitive cases.
* Willingness and ability to travel across the force area to attend case conferences.

Additional Information:

Shortlisting of applications will take place following the closing date with in-person interviews to be confirmed

The role is blended, with much of the work being primarily home-based; however there is a requirement to travel to your secondary location which will be Bridgewater Police Centre and to attend face-to-face Child Protection Case Conferences which take place across the force area on a regular basis. Please note, this can be as often as daily depending on workload.

To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 5 year 'checkable history' in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 5 years.

Blended Working/ Hybrid Working

Avon and Somerset Police encourage flexible working where operationally possible.

This role has been identified as a blended role.

The successful candidate for this role will have the opportunity to work from home whilst also at a secondary work location, which will be a police premises. The successful applicant will have the option to discuss working arrangements with their line manager. All applicants must reside within the UK.
