Driver 2 Youth Work (Fixed Term)

Are you passionate about driving? Do you enjoy working with young people and giving them the opportunity to learn new skills? Do you want to help lead on our brand-new mobile catering van and work alongside youth workers to provide free food opportunities to young people across Dumfries and Galloway?
If yes, then this job is for you - The Youth Work Service in Dumfries and Galloway are offering an opportunity for adults who have experience in driving, catering and/or working with young people. We are looking for someone to join an innovative and award-winning youth work team to deliver a range of informal learning programmes based around food across the region.
The driver post will be responsible for driving and cleaning/maintenance of the mobile catering van, supporting youth workers to deliver cooking sessions or making by setting out the equipment (not doing the cooking) and helping the staff to serve the food to youth groups. The post will include driving the food van to groups from Langholm to Stranraer in evenings and weekends.
The post will also involve opportunities to drive the minibus of young people to events, if you have a C1E licence you may support the mobile youth centre (MyPod).
You will be required to work 25 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year.
This post is fixed term for up to 24 months. This post may be suitable for attachment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
This challenging and stimulating post is part of a wider team of workers
developing and supporting creative youth work activity and involvement
across Dumfries and Galloway.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post.
The post will require evening and weekend work on a weekly basis, for which payment is included in the salary offered.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and
Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act
2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join
the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal
offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if
offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required
to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the
country or countries in which they were resident.
