A Pool will also be running for a period of 12 months.

About the role
This position will coordinate the Present-Day Ecosystems project based at Exmouth Gulf, focussed on understanding extant marine biodiversity. The successful applicant will consult and co-create research aims with Traditional Owners, conduct a meta-analysis of existing faunal knowledge to identify gaps focussed on WA Museum marine collections, supervise fieldwork logistics, and integrate new collections and metadata through targeted sampling.
About you
We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual who has experience managing remote marine fieldwork, conducting Collections-based research, and wants to make a difference to a renewed understanding of marine diversity in Exmouth Gulf.
The successful applicant will be expected to:
* Engage with Aquatic Zoology staff to develop impactful Science to improve knowledge of marine systems.
* Work independently and manage complex fieldwork logistics in remote settings to sample new areas and diverse specimens of Exmouth Gulf.
* Develop new collections and share metadata of existing collections through efficient workflows and staff management.
* Liaise with committees for project updates, communicate findings with relevant bodies, and publish peer-reviewed research outcomes.

* A written response of no more than three (3) A4 pages addressing the following three (3) essential work-related requirements. Please provide relevant examples to support your claims:
* Demonstrated project management and co-ordination, including the ability to deliver agreed outcomes in the specified timeframes.
* Demonstrated well-developed written and verbal communication skills for writing reports and scientific publications, data extraction and analysis, database management and delivering presentations to relevant stakeholders.
* Knowledge of contemporary museum and curatorial practices, specifically as it relates to Natural Science collections.

Eligibility to Apply
* Applicants must have a valid Work Visa (for fixed term appointments), or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments) at the time of application.

Special Conditions
* A “C”-Class Drivers Licence is required.
* Scientific Diving qualifications, or willingness to acquire.
* Ability to undertake fieldwork away from Perth.
* Position is required to work onsite and is not subject to regular and ongoing work-from-home arrangements.
Pool Recruitment
This Pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.
Applicants found suitable in this Pool, may be considered for subsequent, similar vacancies with the WA Museum and the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, and Sport (CITS) for the duration of the Pool.
