Financial Controller, Group reporting | Pontypridd | £70,000-£80,000 plus bens
The Financial Controller will lead the controllership team and have responsibility for maintaining the financial control environment and for managing the financial health of the Group by ensuring integrity in the balance sheets and accountability in finance operating processes.
The role:
* Lead the development and delivery of aligned accounting policies, procedures, estimates and judgements across the Group providing advice to senior leaders across the business to ensure compliance with both International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) for financial statements, and the regulatory bodies.
* Support corporate reporting processes including periodic reporting to the board, regulator and other funding bodies by working with the Finance Business Partnering team and the Group Financial Controller to provide robust,timely and insightful content.
* Responsibility for maintaining corporate relationships including managing the funding agreements by monthly formal meetings and communication means to ensure strong relationships with external investors.
* Oversee the timely preparation of all statutory financial reports (consolidated group financial statements, subsidiary financial statements, regulatory returns) and other non financial reporting requirements, by project managing and maintaining accountability of the end-to-end year-end financial reporting cycle and all deliverables to ensure accurate and complete reports are produced to deadlines.
* Prepare the group accounts consolidation and all notes to the group accounts with the team, by working with the Excel model and following a robust preparation process and also work with the finance transformation team to embed the current Excel consolidation into a more technology driven model, to ensure year-end deadlines are met and current solutions are improved.
* Lead working relationship with external auditors, by coordinating the audit deliverables and delegating/ distributing as appropriate to ensure that year-end annual report deadlines are met.
Skills, experience:
* Qualified accountant with demonstrable experience of working at a senior level within a similar role within a complex organisation.
* Experience of applying financial/accounting policies and standards with a technical background and knowledge.
* Experience of reporting within IFRS
* Demonstrable experience of delivering consolidated financial statements.
* Experience of leading and managing a team with the ability to establish and develop appropriate resource that meets changing business and budgetary requirements.
