A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. Consultant Radiologist with interest Oncology and Cancer Imaging.
This is a replacement post in the Imaging Service – Clinical Support & Imaging Management Group (CSI CMG). The post holder will work whole time and will be considered for part‑time arrangements on a personal basis where justified.
Responsibilities
* Undertake programmed activities in Oncology and Gastrointestinal imaging.
* Support the provision of imaging in oncology and haematology.
* Assist oncologists with radiotherapy planning.
* Review oncology emergency imaging performed within and out of hours.
* Lead or participate in MDTs, including lymphoma and myeloma discussions, according to departmental needs.
* Contribute to in‑patient ultrasound imaging where required.
* Participate in an interventional list for US and CT guided biopsies/drainages where the candidate has suitable intervention skill.
* Contribute to the training of Specialist Registrars on the East Midland Deanery (South) radiology training scheme.
* Supervise and train skill‑mix radiographers, sonographers and non‑medical staff in their present and anticipated roles.
* Supervise junior medical staff.
* Support and participate in audit, research, teaching and administration.
* Support emergency imaging across UHL.
* Take part in the diagnostic on‑call rota within UHL and assist in providing weekend radiological support.
* Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.
* Participate in service development and business planning in collaboration with other Consultants, CMG staff, local GPs and commissioners.
* Carry out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contribute to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activity locally and nationally.
* Participate in patient safety and quality improvement activities, including medical audit and the Trust’s Clinical Governance processes; CPD time is provided and attendance at audit and governance meetings is mandatory.
* Work in line with GMC Good Medical Practice.
* Respond in a timely fashion to legitimate requests from Trust officers, including investigations of incidents or complaints.
* Participate in teaching and training of junior staff and other clinical staff groups.
* Undertake Trust Corporate and Directorate specific induction and competency programmes appropriate to the role.
* Maintain continuing professional development (CPD) to revalidate; the successful candidate will be required to complete an annual appraisal and keep fully up to date with statutory and mandatory training as stipulated by the Trust.
