We’re an English Language school hosted by our state-of-the-art CATS Academy Boston high school located in Braintree, MA. Our Study Holidays welcome groups of young students from overseas, usually for periods of 7-14 days at a time. During their stay, they’re immersed in learning with a fun and dynamic academic and activity program. Employment dates for this position run from mid-June to early August 2026.
As the Director of Studies, you'll be:
1. Managing the academic program and the teaching team to ensure that students and teachers alike gain the most from their time in the program
2. Responsible for teaching resources and high-quality delivery of lessons
3. Ensuring academic lessons and activities are integrated to promote the best learning experience for our students - this includes organizing schedules for teachers who are involved in the activities program
4. Holding weekly staff meetings and conducting weekly staff development seminars
5. Observing, appraising, and giving feedback on teaching performance in a supportive, effective manner - we’re proud to champion staff development here at Stafford House
6. Participating in pastoral duties with our students and managing their general wellbeing
7. Some overnight residential duties form part of this role
8. Actively support fellow management colleagues, ., Center Director, Activities Manager, Excursions Manager and Residential Life Manager, to ensure the effective running of the center
9. Filling in for teachers to cover absences, as needed
10. Answering student emergency phones during off-hours if necessary - this duty is rotated amongst the management team
11. Working 6 days per week - as part of the management team, this is a fully immersive position

Here is some of what you’ll need to join us over the summer as Director of Studies:
16. Proven successful experience in teaching, with over 3 years of full-time EFL experience
17. You must have a TESOL certification or equivalent
18. Educated to degree level
19. Excellent communicator
20. Experience in working with and supervising young people
21. Attention to detail
22. Team player attitude with fantastic customer service skills
23. We are unable to offer sponsorship; therefore, you must be legally able to work in the United States

Salary Description $1,100.40/week
