The Expedia Product & Technology team is dedicated to building innovative products, services, and tools that deliver high-quality experiences for travelers, partners, and our employees. Your Role
As a key member of our team, you will:
* Conduct day-to-day work and solve complex issues in your technical engineering area.
* Share domain and industry knowledge across cross-functional teams.
* Guide junior engineers and report on the status of high-level projects to local tech leadership.
* Partner with the business to understand how your technology stack ties to business outcomes.
* Advise on technical limitations of software design and provide alternative solutions.
* Creatively test and maintain software applications using various development tools.
* Take responsibility for the health of the codebase, ensuring quality, scalability, and performance.
* Analyze issues and implement holistic solutions by linking structure, people, process, and technology.
Who You Are
You bring:
* A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
* 8+ years of software development experience, preferably in Java or Kotlin, with a strong focus on backend development.
* Experience in high-performance, scalable services in cloud platforms.
* A track record of formally mentoring at least 3 individuals.
* The ability to identify business problems and design easily testable solutions.
* A strong understanding of complex systems and the ability to guide integrations across teams.
* Knowledge of testing and monitoring tools to advocate for project quality.
On-Call Requirement
This position requires you to be on-call outside of regular working hours, which includes:
* Responding to emergencies or incidents as they arise.
* Providing prompt support and solutions.
* Participating in on-call rotations, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
* Remaining reachable during on-call periods.
