3 month contract role with a Local Authority
Job Summary:
• Wyre Forest District Council is seeking a Street Scene Operative to support the delivery of street cleansing and environmental maintenance services across the local area.
• The role involves maintaining clean and safe public spaces through litter picking, waste removal, graffiti cleaning, and general environmental upkeep.
• The post holder will contribute to improving the local environment by ensuring streets, public areas, and green spaces are maintained to a high standard while supporting wider environmental services.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Carry out street cleansing duties including litter picking and emptying public bins.
• Sweep and clean streets, pavements, and public areas to maintain cleanliness standards.
• Remove fly-tipped waste and debris from public spaces in accordance with council procedures.
• Undertake graffiti removal and cleaning activities to improve the appearance of public areas.
• Clear weeds, leaves, and other environmental debris from streets, pathways, and public spaces.
• Assist with planting and environmental maintenance to support local green initiatives.
• Operate basic street cleansing equipment and tools safely and effectively.
• Ensure work is carried out in line with health and safety regulations.
• Report any environmental issues, hazards, or maintenance requirements to supervisors.
• Work collaboratively with other environmental services staff to maintain high standards of public cleanliness.
Skills/Experience:
• Experience working in street cleansing, environmental services, or grounds maintenance roles.
• Ability to carry out manual outdoor work in various weather conditions.
• Knowledge of safe working practices and health and safety procedures.
• Ability to operate basic cleaning and maintenance equipment.
• Good awareness of environmental cleanliness and waste management practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions effectively.
• Good attention to detail when maintaining public spaces.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).
Additional Information:
• Bi-Weekly Payments.
• Full UK driving licence (essential).
• Location: Green Street, Kidderminster, DY10 1HA.
• Hours: 37 hours per week.
• Working Pattern: Wednesday – Sunday, 7:00am – 3:00pm.
• Rate: £15.37/Hr (UMB).
• Pre-employment referencing must be completed before the start date.
