Location and Facilities
The appointee will be based at Leighton Hospital, on the outskirts of Crewe. The location offers benefits such as green surroundings and proximity to charming towns, the Peak District, North Wales, and good transport links to major cities.
Hospital Departments and Services
* Treatment Centre with theatres, endoscopy rooms, and recovery area.
* Inpatient theatres including emergency and orthopaedic theatres.
* Award-winning Maternity Department with birthing pools, delivery rooms, theatres, and recovery area.
* Critical Care Unit with 18 beds and isolation rooms.
* Surgical Admission Lounge for elective procedures.
Additional Information
Shortlisted candidates will visit the department prior to interview. The proposed AAC date is 16.06.2025.
Main Duties
The job plan includes 8 PAs of Direct Clinical Care, on-call commitments, and 2 PAs of Supporting Professional Activity weekly, covering private CPD, audit, research, training, and service development. The appointee will manage patients requiring anesthesia across various specialties, participate in on-call rotas, and contribute to trauma lists.
Qualifications and Experience
* Full GMC registration and Licence to Practise.
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining CCT.
* FRCA or equivalent Diploma.
* Substantial relevant NHS experience.
Desirable Qualifications
* Post-graduate degrees or prizes.
Skills and Training
* Completion of UK CCT training or equivalent.
* Experience with high-risk anesthesia patients.
* Certifications like APLS & ALS; ATLS is desirable.
* Experience in paediatric anesthesia and outside medical fields is advantageous.
Teaching and Leadership
* Experience as a Clinical Supervisor and active participation in medical education.
* Engagement in continuing medical education.
* Additional accreditation as an Educational Supervisor is desirable.
Clinical Governance
* Engagement in clinical audit and reflective practice.
* Experience in research, presentations, and publications is desirable.
Management and Personal Attributes
* Understanding of management responsibilities.
* Participation in management courses and departmental administration is desirable.
* Attributes include good organizational skills, teamwork, leadership, interpersonal skills, and adaptability.
