Offer description

Here at Oakfield Vets, Castle Bromwich, we're on the look out for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our established team on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established team. If you are looking to specialise, we can provide that opportunity, whether you would like to study for a certificate or offer specialist services or treatments. We have varied surgical and medical caseloads where you will have clinical freedom to follow your own cases with regular opportunities for operating. We're offering a welcome bonus of up to £5000 (pro rata) for new hires. For this position, you'll be mainly based at our Castle Bromwich site, but at times you would also be required to work at our sites in Tamworth and Atherstone.

Rota patterns that work for you

Our people are at the heart of everything that we do, that's why we know that work-life balance is vital in supporting our people to be their best selves. We're happy to offer flexibility to support both full and part time roles. Ideally, we're looking for someone to work 40 hours per week over 4 days, along with our shared 1:7 Saturday rota. There's no out of hours or on call required for this role.

A bit about us

We are a long-standing practice with a loyal client base and a fantastic team. We are constantly looking to improve and have recently refurbished and redecorated the practice. To help us deliver an excellent service we have access to purpose-built facilities including: 3 consult rooms, Idexx lab, an operating theatre, digital and dental x-ray, laser, a modern ultrasound scanner and we also treat exotic pets. The three branches are a close-knit supportive team of 7 vets, 14 nurses, 3 VCA's, 3 receptionists, a client-coordinator, practice manager and clinical director who work together to provide the very best service we can. We make the time to regularly meet altogether for team and clinical meetings.

A great area to work

Castle Bromwich is a vibrant suburb in the northeast of Birmingham, known for its friendly community and excellent transport links. The area combines historic charm – with landmarks like Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens, with modern amenities including local shops, schools and green space. It's convenient access to the M6 and nearby business hubs makes it an ideal location for both work and leisure.

Here's what the team have to say

"I started with working at Oakfield Veterinary Group in 2013 but had also been at the practice as a work experience school student and veterinary student too Since being here I have become a Certificate holder in Small Animal Medicine and also an Advanced Practitioner. I am now proud to be the Director of Practice and Clinical Services. I have always felt like a valued member of the team and feel I am lucky to work with such an amazing group of people I can also call friends. I believe that we spend such a lot of our lives at work, and it can be stressful, so we need to enjoy coming to work, I genuinely have found this at Oakfield's and would not hesitate to recommend working here." Emma, Clinical Director
