The Role
Hays are recruiting for an exciting opportunity for a Head of Design to join our client on a short temporary assignment for an approximate duration of 6 months. Take the lead in shaping the brand’s visual identity across every customer interaction and driving consistency, creativity, and long-term brand distinction.
* Leads the creative direction of the brand through the customer experience by developing the design blueprint and applying it across all design programmes.
* Develops end to end creative direction for the customer experience and ensures consistent application across all customer and brand touchpoints (marketing communications, pre-travel, airport ground, lounge, aircraft cabin and back office)
* Leads design workstreams across key customer programmes e.g. cabin/seat development programmes, new lounges, airport customer experience, onboard soft product (bedding, amenity kits, menus), onboard digital experience.
* Develops the global brand identity, including consistent application across all touchpoints, working in collaboration with the Brand team
* Leads Creative Studio to develop high quality content for multiple business areas that will strengthen brand and colleague narrative and drive greater efficiencies through in-house model
* Creates the design blueprint and ensures it continuously reflects the overall brand direction and customer strategy
* Oversees design budget, making appropriate commercial decisions to balance in-house vs outsourced activity to deliver the best value
* Holds senior relationships with design suppliers, driving best value for money through effective supplier selection and management.
* Seeks to continuously improve design best practice through external network and industry knowledge
Skills and Qualifications:
* Educated to degree level or equivalent
* Experience in a creative or design role for a customer-facing organisation (essential)
* Experience in end-to-end physical and digital creative development
* Brand, design or marketing qualification
* Experienced people manager
* Can translate a brand strategy into a compelling, consistent design which drives brand recognition and commercial results.
* Can draw insight and inspiration from external and internal sources to deliver market-leading creative design
* Commercially astute, able to understand the true value of in-house vs agency development to deliver the best outcomes
* Displays & role models inspiring and supportive leadership skills & behaviours
* Role models excellent people management
* Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills
* Emotionally resilient, reacts positively to change and will challenge the status quo
* Strong people manager, able to lead high performing teams in line with people management best practice
* Ability to review design proposals and give appropriate creative and design feedback direction
